This is a Triumph

Portal 2!!! Coming out Fall 2010. I’m so excited that I’ve decided to come back from the abyss and actually make a blog post. Please insert your standard cliché here re: never getting a chance to post. I do want to say that I have several projects also waiting too long on the back burner. A game mod (currently a Half-life 2 mod, although that may change depending on resources) and a book (a collaboration with my sister to educate patients on how to seek the best care in emergency situations). Oh! I also have strange recurring desire to create a YouTube spoof video, but the script is very ambitious. I was worried that it may spoil on the shelf, but it seems that the game in question (we’ll leave that a mystery) has more staying power than I once believed.

On a personal note, I am now the Web Services Administrator for the University of Houston. This happened awhile ago, but due to my slacking at posts, I haven’t been able to mention it.

More posts will come! That’s not a cliché… It’s for real real, not for play play.

iPhone Envy

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Yeah, I have it. My biggest problem with the iPhone is T-Mobile.

See, I’ve had T-Mo for years. I was with Voicestream. Heck, I was with Aerial.

So, my trouble with the iPhone is: I love my cell carrier. When I have a problem, T-Mo answers the phone. When stuff breaks, they fix it.

There’s precious few people that can say that about their cell company. No one loves Sprint, or Verizon, or AT&T for that matter.

If you ever read my blog, and no one does, but I’ll continue… You already know I like T-Mo, and if only they would roll out that coveted 3G service, it would complete me. I will have the ultimate in customer service, price, AND data service. Done deal!

Of course, after I get all of that, I’ll say: “this is the perfect service, if only it had an iPhone”.

Damn you iPhone! You make my perfect service imperfect. You create a void. You hurt.

Oops… I always forget about the poor blog. It’s k, I’ll do better! Here’s a pic of the only touchdown we scored at the Texas Bowl (I’m a UH Alum). Oh well…

I’m working on an interesting video project I hope to share more about here. We’re doing a documentary on Rock Band, which BTW, is very awesome.

I’ll be back before too long to post another pic. My sis and I -finally- ventured back to Brazos Bend, and I still need to upload the images. This time I got to use my neato 77-300mm lens :)

I dunno what spider builds a web facing the ground… but it made for a nice picture. Click on the image to see the hi-res version, where you can see the individual dew drops, weighing down the web like pearls.

This picture, like many of the others I’ve posted, was taken at Brazos Bend state park. I plan to start geo coding these so that people can go to the park and see some of these great sights themselves! (not the web though, I’m pretty sure it’s gone)

I love this picture! That’s my sister, Sarah, standing under the tree with the bike. She’s actually horrified at that moment, but you can’t tell. She’s just spied some feral hogs in the meadow to the left. Four hundred pound pigs would scary anyone.

The lighting was not ideal for a photo, but I think the morning sun exploding through the trees from the right gave the photo interesting character. The tree looks massive in this shot.

The nonchalant demeanor of Sarah captures the majesty of this scene, and how often we ignore the most amazing sights.

The T-Mobile Shadow?

Friday, October 5th, 2007

This is alittle off-topic, as far as my blog goes, but heck…. it’s usually off topic!

There is a report that the HTC Juno, which has been bouncing around the Internets as the next T-Mobile handset from HTC, has gotten a name. The T-Mobile Shadow. Also with the report above comes rumors that not only is it a very cool new handset, but apparently is slated to be the first 3G T-Mobile handset!

The specs for the HTC Juno according to the rumors (or as I call them, facts) include only a 201MHz CPU, but memory at 128MB of RAM and 256MB ROM which is suppose to make it speedy. But is it 3G? I hope so, but my gut says no, since I’m not sure a 200mhz processor can handle a 3G connection.
